Mr & Mrs Izon, married @ Brockencote Hall

We have heard nothing but compliments from friends, family and staff at the venue on how beautiful your voices were, how perfectly selected the songs were, and how professional and delightful you were during

the course of the day

Meet Charlie

Originally from Wales, Charlie began her professional singing career upon leaving Univercity, but has been performing since the age of 3! "Singing has been a major part of my life, most likely helped by the fact that both of my parents were musicians themselves"

After training at University to become an actress, I accidently landed a job as a Show singer at a Scottish holiday park, and had good intentions of paying off some of those student loans, (which was a little hard to do on £90 a week!) Thankfully Will, a well paid knight in shinning armour, was doing his first summer season there as a drummer in a band. The next year we joined forces and put together our own band, enabling us to play at some amazing venues not only in the UK but around the world too!

My musical style has grown a lot since living only for the Spice Girls - thanks to all the influential artists I have met along the way. I love the intimacy, and the unique style that we create with Mango, and think I have found the best job in the world singing at weddings. Vocally accompanying a bride down the aisle or singing a couples favourite song for their first dance, gives me a lot of pleasure adding to the emotions of their special day. Although it’s sometimes hard not to get caught up in the moment and get a little emotional myself! Charlie x

Meet Will

Hello I’m Will - the Guitarist/ backing vocalist, driver, roadie, website designer, sound-engineer, chief sandwich maker for in-car picnics on the way to weddings, for Mango. I’m also husband to Charlie, which despite living & working together 24/7 for many years, works out surprisingly well. (I like to think we set a good example as to why people should get married!)

Charlie and I have been professional musicians since we were 19 years old - running bands of all shapes and sizes firstly around the UK holiday parks, and then all over the world including spending 4 years as one of Princess Cruises top bands on their fleet of Cruise Ships. Our last summer season abroad was in 2006 in an exclusive venue called 'The Lodge' in Dubai where I was drummer and bandleader of a 5-piece rock/pop band called 'Storm' Whilst there, Charlie & I put together an acoustic music set for the chill-out nights, with me playing acoustic guitar for the first time, and Charlie singing stripped-back songs that we’d always wanted to play, but weren’t necessarily suitable songs for our big band to play to the late night rockers & clubbers in Dubai!

So that’s how Mango began – and over 1000 weddings later, we still completely love what we do, and love playing for Brides, Grooms, and their guests, for what is almost all of the time, a very happy occasion with lots of happy people!

Charlie - Mango acoustic duo

Andy Gemmell (aka King Konga) was classically trained as a percussionist from the age of 11 and spent much of his youth playing with orchestras, big bands as well as various rock and pop bands.

Aged 16 Andy helped Grimethorp colliery band become national brass band champions and played with Grimethorp and the BBC concert orchestra at the Birmingham Symphony Hall, broadcast live on radio 2's “Friday night is music night”. After school he took a year out and went full time playing in a touring band and with other ensembles in the Midlands and London. This gave him that chance to play some great venues including Wembley Arena.

Andy enjoys playing many different styles of music. In 2003 he started playing Latin percussion in Plymouth's bars and clubs and quickly built up a following as “King Konga”. King Konga was resident percussionist for 2 years at Ride and Treasury playing with house and funk DJ’s respectively. For the last 12 years Andy has played drums and percussion for the Lincoln Noel Trio.

Andy is excited to be joining forces with Mango to begin a new musical adventure and help to make your special day extra special!
